SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT TAPS VETERAN PUBLICTY EXECUTIVE ERIC KOPS AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, PUBLICITY
Los Angeles — August 12, 2009 — Summit Entertainment announced today that veteran publicity executive Eric Kops has joined the studio as Senior Vice President of Publicity overseeing the studio's domestic theatrical and home entertainment publicity campaigns and activities. Kops will report to Nancy Kirkpatrick, Summit's President of Worldwide Marketing, who made the announcement today. Kops will officially commence at Summit in his new role on August 19. "Eric is one of the best film publicity strategists and leaders in the business and Summit is going to benefit greatly from his combination of both studio and independent film campaign experience," said Kirkpatrick. "I am pleased to once again be working with him and we expect that he will make an impact immediately as we look to release the balance of our 2009 slate and beyond." "I have loved my time at ID, but the opportunity to work with Nancy Kirkpatrick again as well as on Summit's amazing slate of upcoming films was an opportunity I could not pass up," said Kops. "Rob, Patrick and Bob and the rest of the leadership team have created a successful studio in an amazingly short amount of time." Prior to joining Summit, Eric Kops served as the Senior Vice President of Entertainment at ID Public Relations. Over the past 15 years Kops has worked in film marketing and publicity at three major studios — Columbia/TriStar, MGM/UA, and Paramount Pictures — as well as two public relations firms, MPRM and Robert Solomon & Assoc. Throughout his career, Kops has worked on everything from major studio films such as LA CONFIDENTIAL, THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR and LEGALLY BLONDE to global franchises such as JAMES BOND and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. In the independent film arena, notable titles include VELVET GOLDMINE, BILLY'S HOLLYWOOD SCREEN KISS and THE HOUSE OF YES. He has extensive festival experience having represented over 40 films in Sundance, Cannes and Toronto. Kops has also run successful awards campaigns for Golden Globe and Oscar®-winning actress Jennifer Hudson and the Oscar nominated Sophie Okenado. He was part of the team that created and executed awards campaigns for such films as HOTEL RWANDA, IGBY GOES DOWN and DREAMGIRLS. Upcoming Summit releases include the co-production BANDSLAM with Walden Media this Friday, August 14th followed by SORORITY ROW on September 11th and the Imagi Studios produced CG-animated feature ASTRO BOY on October 23rd. On November 20th, Summit will release the highly anticipated sequel THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON with the third movie in the franchise, THE TWILIGHT SAGE: ECLIPSE, coming to theatres on June 30th of next year. Other films slated for release next year include REMEMBER ME, FURRY VENGEANCE and LETTERS TO JULIET.
