SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT BOLSTERS PRODUCTION ARM WITH APPOINTMENTS OF VETERAN FILM EXECUTIVES
Geoff Shaevitz and Michael Schaefer Join Burgeoning Studio Los Angeles, CA August 8, 2007 — Production executives Geoff Shaevitz and Michael Schaefer have been tapped by Summit Entertainment as the studio continues to build its worldwide production team. Shaevitz will serve as Senior Vice President of Production and Schaefer will serve as Vice President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions. Both executives report to Summit's President of Production, Erik Feig, who made the announcement today. "I am thrilled to welcome Geoff and Michael to Summit," said Feig. "It's been a period of rapid and exciting growth at the company and as we grow our department, and the studio, it's critical that we have the right people in place. Geoff and Michael are both aggressive, smart, and, most importantly, good guys with great taste and excellent judgment." In addition to the two new appointments announced today, Feig also noted, "I am also extremely happy with the rest of our team. Meredith Milton and Jean Song, both serving as Vice Presidents of Production, have been unstoppable forces of nature and remain critical members of the team. It's also very gratifying to be able to promote Gillian Bohrer, who had been my assistant, but never held that against me, to Creative Executive." Prior to joining Summit, Geoff Shaevitz was working at Warner Bros., most recently as VP, Production at Warner Premiere which he helped form in 2006. Prior to Warner Premiere, Shaevitz worked within Warner Brothers' theatrical group as a Production Executive on such titles as BATMAN BEGINS, THE LAKE HOUSE, 300 and WE ARE MARSHALL. He got his start running Riche/Ludwig, a Warner Brothers' production company, from 1997 to 2001. Michael Schaefer comes to Summit from The Weinstein Company where he most recently held the title of VP, Production and Acquisitions. Based in New York, he oversaw titles including ARTHUR & THE INVISIBLES. Schaefer started at The Weinstein Company in 2005 as a Director of Production and Acquisitions. Schaefer also worked in Cologne, Germany with RTL Group Germany, the leading German broadcast company. Prior to this he worked for Fine Line Features in London. Schaefer got his start in the industry producing the award winning film NO REGRETS in Germany starring Daniel Bruehl (GOOD BYE LENIN) in his first major breakthrough role. Summit Entertainment's production group has been very active since the studio's launch in April, 2007. Summit currently has two movies in production — GET SOME and STEP UP 2 THE STREETS, as well as several projects in pre-and post production. The studio handles all aspects of marketing and distribution for both its own internally developed motion pictures as well as acquired pictures.
