SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT TO REMAKE
THE 1986 SCI-FI CLASSIC HIGHLANDER

Art Marcum and Matt Holloway to Pen the Project for the Big Screen

Los Angeles, CA May 20, 2008 — Summit Entertainment has announced today that it will produce a re-imagined film based on the 1986 sci-fi thriller HIGHLANDER. Art Marcum and Matt Holloway will pen the screenplay expanding on the original film's core mythology of immortals battling amongst us, hunting each other down for the mysterious prize. Summit acquired the rights to remake the cult classic from Davis/Panzer Productions. Peter Davis, one of the original producers of the 1986 film, will also produce the new version of the film. The original film has developed a dedicated following worldwide and spawned four sequels and two television series.

"I have been a huge fan of the original HIGHLANDER and of its mythology," said Patrick Wachsberger, Co-Chairman and President of Summit Entertainment. "I have always dreamed of reinventing this franchise; as a brand it is hard to think of one which has greater worldwide recognition with audiences - young and old."

Erik Feig, Summit's President of Production stated, "We are extremely excited about embarking on this rebirth of the immortal HIGHLANDER franchise with the supremely talented Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Summit can now say 'There can be only one.' Again."

Peter Davis of Davis/Panzer Productions stated, "I'm delighted to be doing business with the extremely talented creative team at Summit. HIGHLANDER has inspired millions worldwide and I am certain that Patrick, Erik, and Geoff will be faithful to the Highlander Legend and the Highlander Fandom."

In HIGHLANDER, after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his kind, a murderously brutal barbarian, who lusts for the fabled Prize.

Marcum and Holloway most recently wrote the screenplay for the summer blockbuster IRON MAN starring Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow. Additionally both penned the upcoming action movie THE PUNISHER: WAR ZONE with Ray Stevenson stepping into the title role as well as the remake of Sam Peckinpah's CONVOY.

The original HIGHLANDER starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod along with other notable talent including Oscar® winner Sean Connery as Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez, Roxanne Hart as Brenda J. Wyatt, and Clancy Brown as The Kurgan.

Feig along with Summit Entertainment's Senior Vice President of Production, Geoff Shaevitz, and Creative Executive, Gillian Bohrer, will oversee the project for the studio. Andrew Matosich, Summit's Executive Vice President of Business Affairs and Karen Barna, Summit's Vice President of Business Affairs, negotiated the deal on behalf of the studio. Alan Grodin of Weissman, Wolf, Bergman, Coleman, Grodin & Evall, represented Davis/Panzer Productions in the transaction.

Marcum and Holloway are represented by ICM and attorney Mark Bisgeier.
