Summit Entertainment Nurtures Romantic Adventure With May 2009 Release
Los Angeles, CA December 11, 2008 — Summit Entertainment will release writer-director Rian Johnson's acclaimed romantic adventure THE BROTHERS BLOOM, in a limited run, on May 15, 2009, and a wide release on May 29, 2009, it was announced today by Summit President of Domestic Distribution Richie Fay. Summit's decision to relocate the film from its planned January 16, 2009 expanded release was influenced by a glut of similar upscale features in the January marketplace.
"We knew from our early tests and from enthusiastic festival reception that this film needed a home when audiences could discover it. May 29, 2009 is an ideal time to counterprogram the film against summer releases." said Fay.
THE BROTHERS BLOOM are Bloom (Academy Award® winner Adrien Brody) and Stephen (Mark Ruffalo) -- the best con men in the world, swindling millionaires with complex scenarios of lust, intrigue and the most complex literary-inspired setups imaginable.
